Foot reflexology
“the foot, a miniature map of the body.”
Foot reflexology is a therapeutic method that draws on the body's natural self-healing process. The foot is a miniature map of the human body — each zone on the foot corresponds to an organ or a part of the body. Reflexology relieves the whole body through the foot.
A manual therapy on the reflexes
Reflexology works on the reflexes of the body's organs and hormones. It is a manual therapy that stimulates organs and glands remotely.
The surface of each foot contains very precise zones directly connected to our organs and glands, through the nerve endings that run through the feet. A specific touch on these zones sends a message to a distant organ or gland — to either stimulate it or calm it — in order to restore the body's natural balance.
Reflexology is a truly gentle, complementary medicine — non-invasive and medication-free — that treats imbalances deeply and helps hold the results over time.
Reflexology does not stop at the feet
In the same way, a similar map runs through the hands, the face, and the cranium. Depending on the protocol we establish during the first session, three approaches are possible:
- Plantar — to stimulate;
- Palmar — for elderly or bedridden clients, or when plantar reflexology would be too painful or too stimulating;
- Facial and cranial — to reduce stress by stimulating the nerve endings of the scalp and between the cranial sutures.
What facial and cranial reflexology does
Facial and cranial reflexology has a dual effect: oxygenation and detoxification of the surrounding tissue, and activation of the microcirculation that carries the nutritional exchanges of the face and scalp.
